Prior to joining The Cambria Group, John was a member of the United States Army, spending the majority of his career within Special Operations. John began his career as an infantryman in the 3rd Ranger Battalion, studied Chinese at the Defense Language Institute, and later attended the Special Forces Qualification Course (Q-Course). After earning his Green Beret, John was assigned to the 1st Special Forces Group in Washington State and Okinawa, Japan. His final assignment was at the US Army Special Operations Command, where he retired as a Sergeant Major after more than a dozen deployments and 28 years of service.
John’s passion lies in the mountains – he attended the Special Forces Senior and Master Mountaineering Courses and has summited several 14,000+ mountains, including Denali, Mont Blanc, and [almost all of] the Matterhorn.
John holds an undergraduate degree from Boston University, where he competed on the Rugby and Ski Teams, as well as a master’s degree from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.
